a sparrow under your pillow

FilmDak, Rotterdam, Netherlands
2026

a sparrow under your pillow is Panida Petchara’s debut solo exhibition exploring displacement, memory, labour and the adaptation of Thai spiritual beliefs within a Dutch context. Featuring a dynamic blend of completed works and ongoing developments, the space operates as an open playground of moving image, installation, photography, and performance. Whether through moving image or physical installation, Petchara uncovers the deeper tensions buried beneath the mundane, transforming everyday objects into unexpected lenses on larger systemic issues. Fluttering between the critically political and the playfully humorous, these pieces offer a close, inventive exploration of diasporic alienation and unbelonging. Through a rich layering of visuals and sound, she reclaims her personal narrative across whimsical daydreams, uncanny visions, and eerie nightmares, ultimately treating memory and the subconscious as fluid, unpredictable elements that continuously shape our evolving identities.

The exhibition and performance are supported by Mondriaan Fund.
